This marks the 26th edition of the annual Employer Health Benefits Survey. As in previous years, the survey investigates trends associated with employer-sponsored health coverage, covering aspects such as premiums, employee contributions, cost-sharing arrangements, offer rates, wellness initiatives, and employer practices. This year’s survey included in-depth questions regarding provider networks, abortion coverage, benefits for family building, coverage for GLP-1 agonists, and programs aimed at low-wage workers. The 2024 survey comprises 2,142 interviews with both public and private non-federal firms.
The annual premiums for employer-sponsored family health coverage have climbed to $25,572 this year, reflecting a 7% increase. On average, employees contributed $6,296 toward the total cost of family coverage. The typical deductible for covered workers in a plan with a general annual deductible is $1,787 for individual coverage.
Survey findings are presented in various formats, including a comprehensive report featuring downloadable tables on a wide range of topics, a summary of findings, and an article published in the journal Health Affairs.
